VNUHCM-US Stem Cell Institute launched an international collaboration on ischemic disease treatment

A promising scientific research project between Viet Nam and Switzerland has officially been launched. Scientists from the VNUHCM-US Stem Cell Institute (University of Science, VNUHCM) and the Heart repair & regeneration laboratory (University of Fribourg, Switzerland) will collaborate to develop an innovative therapy for dangerous vascular diseases, based on the application of stem cell-derived secretome.

On the Vietnamese side, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Phuc from the VNUHCM-US Stem Cell Institute will lead the project, while Prof. Marie-Noëlle Giraud will serve as the principal investigator on the Swiss side. According to the plan, the three-year project will be conducted in parallel in both countries. The Vietnamese research team will focus on vascular complications caused by diabetes and peripheral arterial occlusion, while their Swiss counterparts will address the challenges related to myocardial infarction.

What makes this project remarkable is not only its scientific value but also the academic exchange opportunities it creates, opening doors for student exchange programs between the two countries and contributing to the training of a new generation of talented young scientists.
