What activities does the Institute undertake?

The Institute works across a wide range of multidisciplinary areas, though primarily focused on health science and biomedical science. The main fields are:

  • Stem cells in disease treatment
  • Stem cells in cosmetics / aesthetics
  • Stem cells in food products
  • Stem cells in animal gene-transfer and conservation
What kinds of jobs are available at the Institute?

Because the Institute’s operations span research, training, production and services, there are many types of positions:

  • University students can carry out undergraduate projects and short‐term internships
  • Postgraduate students (Master’s, PhD)
  • Researchers
  • Administrative staff
  • Sales staff, production staff

How can I conduct research at the Institute?

Does the Institute provide medical treatment?

The Institute itself does not perform medical examinations or treatments; however, the Institute has an extensive network of medical units and hospitals that use its technologies. When you contact us, we will advise you on reputable facilities where you can receive consultation and treatment.

Does the Institute offer Master’s and PhD programs?

The Institute does not directly grant Master’s or PhD degrees; however, it participates in training Master’s and PhD students in several disciplines of the University of Science, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. Students from other universities may also apply to conduct their Master’s or PhD thesis research at the Institute.

Which majors can work at the Institute?

Graduates with Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degrees in cell biology, molecular biology, or embryology can work as researchers.

Graduates with a pharmaceutical diploma can work at the Production Center.

Graduates with an economics diploma can work as sales staff.

Resources of VNUHCM-US Stem Cell Institute

The Stem Cell Institute is fully equipped with the infrastructure necessary for comprehensive development — from research and technology development to production and service implementation.

What techniques can the Institute perform?

The Institute is capable of conducting modern biomedical techniques at multiple levels – from molecular biology and cell biology to tissue and in vivo studies.

Does the Institute have an ISO 17025-certified laboratory?

The Institute has been supported by the World Bank through the FIRST project (Ministry of Science and Technology) to establish a Laboratory for Biological Activity Evaluation meeting ISO 17025 standards.

This is the first laboratory in Vietnam to use state-of-the-art techniques for automated and large-scale evaluation of the biological activity of substances.

Does the Institute have a production facility?

With funding from the World Bank through the FIRST project (Ministry of Science and Technology), the Institute has established a production workshop that meets GMP-WHO standards for several product lines developed and researched by the Institute.

Does the Institute sell products?

Yes. The Institute produces and sells products that are the outcomes of its research. Currently, the Institute offers products such as stem cell isolation kits and stem cell culture media, among others.
