  • SCI and Hoa Lac Stem Cell officially signed a MoU

    On July 19, 2025, in Hanoi, the VNUHCM-US Stem Cell Institute (SCI) and Hòa Lạc Stem Cell Technology Joint Stock Company (Hòa Lạc Stem Cell – HSC) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking an important step forward in scientific and technological cooperation between the two parties.Vision for Collaboration

    The two sides commit to establishing a sustainable, strategic partnership aimed at:

    • Enhancing community health care quality through high-tech medical services.
    • Promoting regenerative medicine by applying stem cells and immune cells in clinical treatment.
    • Standardizing procedures according to international standards (ISCT, AABB, FACT) and Vietnamese law.

    Key Areas of Collaboration
    Under the agreement, the two parties will focus on five domains:

    1. Advanced Training: SCI will transfer technologies for stem cell / immune cell isolation, culture, and preservation to the HSC staff.
    2. Technical Transfer: Deploy advanced, internationally-compliant processes from collection to clinical application.
    3. Quality Monitoring: Establish internal control systems aiming for international certification.
    4. Joint Research: Collaborate on scientific projects and expand treatment scopes.
    5. Parallel Communication: Raise public awareness of regenerative medicine.

    Participating in the signing ceremony, the SCI was represented by Assoc. Prof. Pham Van Phuc (Director); and HSC by Mr. Phan Tú Quân (CEO).

    During the event, Assoc. Prof. Pham Van Phuc delivered a presentation on “Stem Cell Economics & Business,” providing attendees with an overview of current economic and business trends in the stem cell industry.

  • Memorandum of Cooperation Signing Ceremony between SCI and VNCORD-DK Tissue Bank

    On the morning of April 22, 2024, the VNUHCM–US Stem Cell Institute (SCI) and VNCORD-DK Joint Stock Company officially held the ceremony to sign their cooperation agreement at the Institute. This event marks an important milestone in the partnership between the two institutions.

    With the aim of improving product and service quality, and of developing a high-quality workforce to support each other’s operations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Phuc — Director of SCI — and Mr. Do Huu Duy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DK Investment Joint Stock Company, together signed the Memorandum of Cooperation covering training linkage, research and development in stem cell technology.

    Under the agreement, SCI will transfer technologies for isolation, expansion, preservation, and activation of stem cells; as well as technologies for analysis and quality evaluation of stem cells, to VNCORD-DK. In exchange, VNCORD-DK will provide tissue material to SCI to support the Institute’s research and training activities. The two parties will jointly organize seminars, workshops, and training courses in stem cell science and its applications to support each other’s professional activities and to serve the community.

    Representatives from both sides attended the signing:

    • For SCI: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Phuc (Director), Prof. Vu Bich Ngoc (Head, Center for Innovation & Experimental Production), Dr. Nguyen Truong Sinh (Head, Center for Research & Development), M.Sc. Nguyen Trong Hoa (Head, Business Department), and all staff of the Institute.
    • For VNCORD-DK: Attendees included Dr. Bich Chi Nguyen (Executive Director, VNCORD Tissue Bank Branch, DK Medical Joint Stock Co.), Dr. Bui Vo Minh Hoang (Head of Laboratory, VNCORD Tissue Bank), Dr. Nghiem Xuan Dat (Executive Director, VNCORD Tissue Bank), and other officers and staff of the company.

    The cooperation between SCI and VNCORD-DK carries great significance in the development of both institutions and contributes toward the mission of serving society more fully.

  • SCI and DNA International Hospital Sign Strategic Cooperation MoU

    On January 10, 2025, during the SCI TechUpdate 2024 annual scientific conference, the VNUHCM–US Stem Cell Institute (SCI) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the DNA International Hospital, establishing a strategic collaboration between the two organizations.

    DNA International Hospital has affirmed its position as one of Vietnam’s leading private hospitals, with a vision of building a comprehensive Healthcare and Anti-Aging System. Equipped with modern facilities and a team of top specialists, the hospital continuously seeks new medical solutions to enhance patient care and wellbeing.

    The signing marks a mutual commitment to improving the quality of healthcare in Viet Nam, particularly through research and application of stem cell technology.
    The partnership will focus on three main areas:

    1. Human Resource Training: SCI will provide advanced training and technology updates on stem cell applications for the hospital’s medical staff.
    2. Clinical Research Collaboration: The two parties will cooperate on clinical studies related to tissue regeneration, anti-aging, and complex diseases.
    3. International Publications: Jointly develop and publish scientific papers to elevate Viet Nam’s scientific presence globally.

  • VNUHCM-US SCI and Van Hanh General Hospital Establish Strategic Partnership

    On January 10, 2025, immediately following the success of the SCI TechUpdate 2024 annual scientific conference, the VNUHCM–US Stem Cell Institute (SCI) and Vạn Hạnh General Hospital officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing a strategic partnership.

    This marks Vạn Hạnh General Hospital as the first official strategic hospital partner of SCI.

    A Decade of Collaboration

    The partnership between SCI and Vạn Hạnh General Hospital began in 2014, marking ten years of scientific and technological cooperation.

    Over the past decade, both institutions have jointly implemented multiple research projects and clinical trials.

    SCI has developed and optimized technology-based solutions to address real-world medical needs at Vạn Hạnh Hospital — a collaboration that has led to breakthrough achievements in stem cell science and its clinical applications.

  • MoU Signing Ceremony between SCI and Vitech Science Development Co., Ltd.

    On August 9, 2024, the VNUHCM–US Stem Cell Institute (SCI) and Vitech Science Development Co., Ltd. officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant milestone in the partnership between the two organizations.

    The MoU focuses on establishing a Cell Culture Training Center (CCTC) – a joint initiative aimed at developing high-quality human resources in stem cell technology and life sciences.

    Both parties agreed to cooperate in training, technology transfer, and knowledge sharing to enhance the quality of scientific research and laboratory operations.

    Through this collaboration, SCI and Vitech will jointly:

    • Organize specialized courses and professional workshops on cell culture and related technologies.
    • Provide training programs for students, researchers, and professionals across universities, hospitals, and biotech enterprises.
    • Develop advanced laboratory practices aligned with international standards for biomedical research and production.
    • Expand access to professional education in modern cell culture and regenerative medicine.

    The partnership combines SCI’s research expertise with Vitech’s strong foundation in scientific equipment and training solutions, creating a sustainable model for capacity-building in Vietnam’s biotechnology sector.

  • Workshop on Flow Cytometry Applications and the Second MoU Signing between SCI and BD LifeScience

    On the morning of June 14, 2024, the VNUHCM–US Stem Cell Institute (SCI) and BD LifeScience successfully co-organized the Workshop on “Updates on Flow Cytometry Applications in Cell and Stem Cell Research” and held the Second Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony between the two parties at the Institute.

    The workshop provided an opportunity for scientists, researchers, and students to gain deeper insights into the latest advancements in flow cytometry and its applications in biomedical and stem cell research. The program featured presentations from leading experts of BD LifeScience and scientists from SCI, highlighting practical uses and recent innovations in multi-parameter flow cytometry for analyzing stem cell populations, immune cells, and cell-based therapy development.

    Through this event, participants were able to directly experience BD’s latest flow cytometry instruments and software platforms, enhancing their understanding of cell analysis technologies.

    The workshop also served as a professional networking space, fostering scientific exchange and collaboration between domestic and international researchers in the field of life sciences.

    Immediately following the workshop, SCI and BD LifeScience held the Second MoU Signing Ceremony, reaffirming the strategic cooperation established between the two organizations since 2022.

    Under this renewed agreement, the two sides commit to continuing their collaboration in:

    • Jointly organizing scientific seminars and hands-on workshops to promote advanced flow cytometry applications in research and clinical fields.
    • Strengthening technology transfer, training, and technical support for scientists and students at SCI.
    • Developing research projects and publications focusing on the role of flow cytometry in cell and stem cell research.
